Unlike stone, plastic and other solid-surface materials, Richlite is an incredibly durable, sustainable and versatile material made from paper. High-grade custom FSC-certified paper infused with a thermosetting resin is laid up by hand and pressed into a solid panel.

How It’s Made
Layers of high-quality engineered paper are infused with thermosetting resin before they are cut to length and laid up by hand. Richlite’s signature surface texture comes from the natural variation in how the fibers lay within the paper. Each sheet is carefully stacked, alternating the direction of the paper for ultimate balance and stability. The stacks are pressed under heat and pressure, which bonds the layers of paper together and cures the product. The panels are then slowly cooled to produce a solid and stable sheet material.

Richlite® surface is a durable, attractive material designed to stay beautiful for the lifetime of your kitchen, bath or office space. A simple wipe up with soap and warm water on a regular basis will maintain its beauty. Richlite’s testing laboratory recommends that fabricators finish the surface with a non-oil-based sealant to provide a rich, polished finish that requires minimum care.
Richlite is often considered the best product for exterior cladding due to its durability, resistance to weather and ease of maintenance. It is a composite material made from resin-infused paper and is water-resistant, making it perfect for use in outdoor applications.
Richlite is a solid, through-colour composite material made from compressed paper. Super dense, highly durable and versatile, it’s used in everything from tooling and mould-making to skate ramps, interior design, chopping boards and quite often – kitchen surfaces. As cupboard doors or a kitchen worktop, it’s great for those who like the look and feel of materials like concrete, copper, brass, stainless steel, leather or linoleum.

Can you put a hot pan on Richlite?
The material is resistant to scratches and burns but, like most surfaces, can potentially be damaged by cutting directly on the surface or setting a red-hot frying pan on the surface. Richlite recommends the use of cutting boards, hot pads and trivets to protect the surface from potential damage.
